ビト (松本潤) の運命を左右する裁判が始まった。 裁判員裁判、一日目。ビトを裁くのは6名の裁判員と3名の裁判官。裁判員に選ばれた6名は、私立高校教師の 冷牟田 (浅野和之)、トラック運転手の 叶 (モロ師岡)、海外生活の経験があるエリート商社マン・真田 (忍成修吾)、専業主婦の 徳島 (大島蓉子)、出版社勤務のキャリアウーマン・掛井 (櫻井淳子)、妊娠5ヶ月で専業主婦の 柴田 (酒井若菜) だ。 検事は 一馬 (中井貴一) をねたむ 北川 (甲本雅裕) が担当することに。
一馬は、裁判前のビトとの面会でビトが残虐極まりない犯罪者だと思われているのが現状だと伝える。凶悪な外国人犯罪者というレッテルを貼り、面白おかしく事件を書き立てるマスコミの影響もあり、ビトには不利な状態だ。
裁判所の傍聴席には、花 (新垣結衣) や みどり (いしだあゆみ)、金太 (徳山秀典)、ブル (鈴之助) が見守っていた。 北川は、ビトが計画的に 林 (小栗旬) を殺害したと主張。 過去に殺人を犯しているという事実があるビトは、冤罪が証明出来ていないため凶悪犯罪で再び犯罪を犯した被告人だ。つまり、裁判員が 求められている判断は、極刑か否か…。
しかし、弁護人の一馬は正当防衛を主張。 青木裁判長 (本田博太郎) は、戸惑う裁判員に公判の最大のポイントを検察側と弁護側の冒頭陳述に大きな開きがあることだと説明する。 一馬と しおり (小池栄子) は、ビトを助けたい一身で弁護するが、公判が短期間で行われる裁判員裁判に苦しめられる。 そんな中、花が証人として証言台に立つことに。 TV Guide Vito comes to judge at trial.
